Project Timeline

Stage_1: Education and Outreach (Current Phase- 2006-2008)

• Build understanding of the value of Green Infrastructure across public and private interests in the New River Valley



• Identify Green Infrastructure needs and goals within the New River Valley



• Capacity build among interest groups to design and adopt a Green Infrastructure inventory for the region 

Stage_2: Green Infrastructure Plan Development and Data Collection (Projected- 2008-2010)

Stage_3: Implementation Stage (Projected- 2010-Onward)

• Develop a Formal Green Infrastructure Plan to be adopted into local comprehensive plans.
  
  
• Integrate Green Infrastructure planning into other planning efforts including transportation, tourism and recreation, economic development, etc.


• Continue to build the capacity and the network for implmenting Green Infrastructure in the NRV.


• Promote the development of tools and techniques to support the capacity of local governments.
