Overview: Planning efforts are continuing to extend the New River Trail State Park to the Huckleberry Trail in Christiansburg. Currently, 7 possible routes have been identified to connect up the two rail trails. A draft feasibility study of those routes will be presented for comment at the next Regional BW-WW working group meeting in September. County officials are currently contacting property owners along the proposed routes. The first phase of the project, which is being submitted for an Enhancement Grant, this November is from the Town of Pulaski to Randolph Park in Dublin. Volunteer efforts will be needed for comment on the feasibility study as well as to lobby support from local elected officials once study is completed.
