The New River Valley Planning District Commission’s (NRVPDC) Rural Transportation Planning Program carries out transportation planning activities and provides technical assistance to localities in the rural, non-metropolitan areas of the Planning District. The activities of the Rural Transportation Planning Program are guided by an annual Work Program. The Work Program is developed in coordination with the NRVPDC’s Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TTAC). The NRVPDC serves as the Policy Board for this program.

Funding assistance for carrying out the Work Program is provided by the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Rural Transportation Planning Assistance Program.
