. Since October 2005, Virginia Tech’s Center for Transportation Policy (CTP) has been working on a community transportation coordination project for the Virginia Department of Transportation with the New River Valley Planning District Commission and the Roanoke Valley- Allegheny Regional Commission and Metropolitan Planning Organizations.  CTP’s goal is to help local agencies coordinate the transportation needs of human service clients with both public and private transportation providers in western Virginia.  As part of this process, CTP has researched technologies and best practices and has reviewed case studies in order to make recommendations of coordination activities for the region.
