Come to Southwest Virginia’s Regional
Trails and Green Infrastructure Conference!

February 2007

Dear Recreational Business Owner:

You are cordially invited to join us at Building Trails to a Greener Future: Linking the Economy, Healthy Communities and the Environment. This conference focusing on emerging concepts in green infrastructure and regional trail networks will be held May 17th – 19th, 2007, at Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Due to the interest in trails and greenways generated by previous successful conferences, this event is expected to attract 150-250 participants! There will be a wide variety of interest groups represented including local governments, outdoor enthusiasts, students, non-profits, state and federal agencies, academics and more.

Building Trails to a Greener Future will provide local recreational businesses in the New River Valley with an unprecedented opportunity to promote their organization and develop their own business skills. The event will provide a forum for discussion and education on topics including land and water trail management, funding sources for trail implementation and management, state programs that assist and develop small recreational businesses and much more. The Virginia Tourism Corporation will showcase its small business development services including tourism development planning, small business assistance, strategic planning, and connections to different funding/service agencies. There will also be a blueway management case study highlighting methods to determine recreational carrying capacity of rivers and trails.

Because businesses like yours are integral to the economic and environmental vitality of the region, Recreational Business Owners can register for the reduced price of $35! (Regular $70)
